Happy Independence Day

Those who have read a bit of literature on partition, know that it was not at all a happy moment for millions of people. Overnight they were uprooted from their centuries old dwellings. Lakhs of people marched from India to the neighbouring country & from there to here. Thousands of them were died on the way either due to hunger or religious/political attacks. Women were raped, men were mutilated. Trains full of dead bodies used to arrive at railway stations. As that generation which saw the painful partition will soon leave us, let us inculcate love, understanding & harmony in our succession. Happy Independence Day!!!
