Misunderstood EGO

Everything starts from the self and immerse into the self; in between lies the whole universe. This journey is about to explore, know, analyse all these 'in between' things, through exploring, knowing, analysing, realising, criticising, improving and awakening the self. That self is ego which can be defined as a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance. Then why people think ego is bad? I think it is just misunderstood. Pleasant evening friends!!!
